Details of bringing forward an examination

The details should be discussed with the main examiner in advance. The main examiner is usually the lecturer.

If the performance assessment comprises several examinations please indicate which examination you wish to bring forward.

A change of examination mode, i.e. a change from a written to an oral examination or vice-versa, is not usual and is only approved as an exception.

Distance examinations

Distance examinations are only approved in exceptional circumstances. An additional document must be uploaded for this, at the latest when the request is submitted.

For transposition to other time zones see >>>. Local time of the ETH examination in the new location: enter the date and time according to the other time zone. If the examination should take place in London, for example, and it normally begins at 9:00 and ends at 11:00, enter 8:00 to 10:00 as the local time, with the same date.

If the distance examination cannot be conducted at exactly the same time as the regular examination, e.g. because this would be outside a building’s opening hours in the other time zone, the distance examination may take place at a different time. A specific reason must also be submitted here. Enter the date and time according to the other time zone. If, for example, an examination on 20 January lasts from 15:00 to 17:00, and the distance examination in Singapore would take place from 21:00 to 23:00, enter e.g. 21 January from 8.00 to 10:00 as the new time if the instructor agrees.
