Administration of ETH passwords

Since April 15, 2019, the look & feel of the administration of passwords for ETH members has changed. The ETH Web Center is now available. www.password.ethz.ch (Web Center Login)

In the Web Center, ETH members change their initial password, manage their passwords and store their authentication data when they log on. If ETH members have forgotten their password, they will receive a new password using the mobile phone number or alternative (non-ETH) email address stored there.

Password tutorials

To support ETH staff and students, IT Services have created tutorials. They convey the respective procedure simply and vividly. Step by step, IT Services explain how you can

  • Change your password
  • Store your authentication data
  • Reset your password

All videos and information about ETH passwords and your ETH user account are available on the ETH Web:

New IAM designations

Due to the new Identity Access Management (IAM) / Web Center there are new designations.

ETH Identity and Access Management (IAM)

The system allows the control and supply of data from the Directory Services LDAP, Active Directory and Switch AAI (ETH-part) that unify the management of groups and distributors, the management of multiple passwords and providing self-service help and helpdesk functions via a web application.
A uniform and consistent management of identities and access rights is an indispensable requirement for the provision of IT services in a complex environment like ETH.
