Teaching is one of the fundamental tasks for all doctoral students and academic staff at ETH Zurich. With this in mind, ETH Zurich is working in cooperation with the joint Language Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich to offer the “Deutsch als Fremdsprache (DaF) Turbo” course to ensure the German language does not create an unnecessary barrier.

This “German Turbo” course is aimed first and foremost at doctoral students, although it is also open to other teaching staff with no prior knowledge of German. In just one year, participants will gain the language skills they need to communicate effectively in everyday life and teach in German.

The course is being offered again in 2015 following a successful first run last year. In addition to this a Summer Course is being offered for participants of the first run.

Registration is open from 26 May to 9 July 2015, and the course itself will begin on 17 August 2015. It comprises two intensive courses and 56 lectures in the autumn and spring semesters of 2015/2016. It will involve seven hours of learning per week (12 ETCS credits).
