During its most recent session in 2015, the Executive Board adopted changes to the university's organisational structure, or rather, made changes to the Organisation Ordinance. These important changes specifically affect the central bodies: the infrastructure divisions will now be called “administrative departments”, and there will be more of them. The amendment to the Organisation Ordinance will come into force on 1 January 2016.

The internal communications team is breaking up now for the Christmas holidays. We’ll be back on 4 January 2016 to keep you up to date on events at ETH Zurich.

The ETH Zurich never pauses for breath. It is always being renovated, built, and modernised. The December issue of “life” magazine provides an overview of the planned new buildings and renovations at the Hönggerberg and Zentrum campuses.

New maps are now available in colour or black and white, and users can easily add their own annotations.

In order to keep up-to-date with the negotiations, plenary sessions and press conferences from the COP21 are being webcast live on the “Green Floor” in the CHN building (D-floor next to the lift), every day from 10am to 6pm.

With a view to the new term of office of 2016–2019, at its meeting of 2/3 December 2015 the ETH-Board appointed the ETH Appeals Commission.

D University Medicine Zurich is an initiative by ETH Zurich, University of Zurich and the university hospitals in Zurich. A new flagship project was launched at its annual event in late November. The aim of the University Medicine Zurich collaboration is to strengthen academic medicine. This objective is also supported by the new Balgrist Campus.

Rare books, manuscripts, journals or images – they should all be rendered accessible to the public online.

The D-MAVT Distinguished Lecture Series brings world leading scientists and engineers to ETH Zurich. Next Monday, Ole Sigmund, Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, will talk about topology optimization.

There will be an ice rink at ETH Zurich again this year. It will be open to all keen ice skaters from 21 November to 18 December. Admission is free and ice skates can be hired for six francs.
