4,500 spectators in the stadium, 66 participating teams from 25 nations, 140 media representatives, 600 helpers and more than 500 published reports: this was the first edition of Cybathlon, which ETH Zurich carried out for the first time in the autumn of 2016. The event was initiated by Robert Riener, ETH professor for Sensory-Motor Systems. In the Cybathlon, people with disabilities compete in 6 different disciplines and are supported by advanced assistive devices, including robotic technologies. Swiss National Television broadcasted the world premiere as part of a theme day entitled "Man and Machine". Corporate Communications and the Cybathlon team were responsible for turning the competition into a major media event. These efforts have now been honoured with the European Excellence Award in the category "Event and Experiental Marketing".

After winning awards at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards and the Edi. 17, the new short film about ETH Zurich also won a European Excellence Award in the category Corporate Film and Video. The film is a short portrait in which viewers learn the most important facts about ETH Zurich during a fast-paced ride on the polybahn. The video is deliberately different - fast, self-confident and yet not exceedingly serious. Corporate Communications produced the short film together with the agency Seed Audio-Visual Communication.
