Simon Lilly was elected Full Professor of Experimental Astrophysics at ETH Zurich in 2002. His research field is observational cosmology. Lilly has received the Herschel Medal for the discovery that the speed at which the universe has been forming stars has changed substantially in the last 10 billion years.

The award ceremony will take place in July 2017 at the National Astronomy Meeting of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS). The RAS is a British society formed in 1820 that supports astronomical and geophysical research and publishes scientific journals.

Detailed information about Simon Lilly’s award can be found on the website of the Department of Physics (D-PHYS).
