The 2018 Vening Meinesz Medal is awarded by the European Geosciences Union EGU to Markus Rothacher for his pioneering work in linking geometry, rotation and gravity to space geodetic observations and subsequently enhancing the understanding of the Earth system.

The medal is named after the Dutch geophysicist and geodesist Felix Andries Vening-Meinesz and is awarded annually by the EGU for distinguished research in geodesy.
