5G Innovation for Prosperity

Dr. Chang-Gyu Hwang, CEO of KT Corporation South Korea's largest telecommunications company speaks at ETH Zurich on 5G technology. The 5G network refers to a next-generation mobile communication technology with super-fast speed, ultra-low latency, and high connectivity. It promises an innovative platform that accelerates digital transformation in industrial fields. Despite controversy surrounding the 5G network, KT became the world’s first carrier to commercialize its 5G service in April 2019. The company anticipates this new technology will enhance the limitations of humankind enabling search and rescue operations; remote control of unmanned aircraft; and its Global Epidemic Prevention Platform. To diversify 5G use cases, KT has also established a “5G Open Lab” a collaborative space that allows enterprises to verify products and services on a 5G infrastructure.
