Is cybersecurity mostly superstition? Have you ever felt uneasy making a payment with your smartphone? Can you really be sure your data is secure in “the cloud?” This week’s French-Swiss Innovation Forum for Cybersecurity hosted by ETH Zurich’s ETH Global office in partnership with the French Embassy in Switzerland, UBIFrance Schweiz, Allistene, and EDF explored these questions and the latest research in cyber security and privacy. In his keynote address, Christian Cachin, IBM Research spoke about cryptographic security mechanisms for cloud computing. Castuscia Palamidessi, Inria and École Polytéchnique, Paris gave a second keynote speech on the quantitative approaches to information protection, but cryptography and data protection were just a couple of the key security topics discussed during this week’s forum.
