Address changes on the Hönggerberg

Since the start of December, streets, paths and squares on the Hönggerberg campus have new names, so delivery and postal addresses must change too.

Since the implementation of the new wayfinding system, the addresses on the Hönggerberg campus have changed as well (see article of 19.11.13). The new system was designed to help employees, students and especially visitors find their way around more easily. However, it’s not only people but also letters and deliveries that have to arrive at their destination on time. To ensure this, it is important to give the correct addresses and especially to name the building codes before the street names. This allows the Swiss Post to sort letters correctly and deliverers to find their way to the delivery points quickly.

The addresses on letterheads, business cards, e-mail signatures and address labels are put together according to certain rules (for detailed information, see the CD page of ETH Zurich)

New delivery addresses

Unlike for letters and packets, there are specially numbered delivery points (“Anlieferung”) for deliveries by vehicle. External deliverers must be given the exact delivery address. Besides the delivery address (e.g. “Anlieferung 57”), the street name must also be given so that deliverers can use navigation devices to find the Hönggerberg campus, where the delivery points are signposted. In order to put all the minimally required information into a delivery address, it must look like this:

Dr. Max Mustermann
Anlieferung 57
Otto-Stern-Weg 7
8093 Zurich

The internal post service still needs to know the building codes so that they don’t have to search for the location of the addressees manually. This is why including the building codes on internal letters on the Hönggerberg as well as the Zentrum campus is mandatory:

Dr. Hans Mustermann
ETH Phenomics Centre
HPL C 22
8093 Zurich

In general, the more information is included according to the address rules, the more reliable the delivery of post and wares.
