Research data management and related topics: know-how for your research project

This series of workshops organised by the ETH Library and the Scientific IT Services at ETH Zurich introduces you to the diverse aspects of research data management.

Forschungsdatenmanagement und verwandte Themen

There are six workshops in the series during March and April 2022, the first five of which build on each other.

  • The first course teaches the basics of research data management and how to apply them. This will constitute the foundation of your own research project.
  • The second workshop is about data management planning and how you, as a scientist, can meet the requirements of research funders and ETH Zurich.
  • The third workshop focuses on active research data management: you will learn best practices and tools for data management during a research project.
  • The fourth workshop deals with reproducible scientific computing and data analysis. Topics include the advantages and disadvantages of computational notebooks and the management of computing environments, among others.
  • Part five of the workshop series is dedicated to publishing data and working with open access. Among other things, you will learn about the requirements of research funders regarding open access and open research data as well as Creative Commons licences.
  • The sixth and last workshop is all about Citizen Science and its added value for researchers. In addition to the general principle of the Citizen Science method, it also deals with the various approaches and associated tools.

In the 2022 spring semester, we will be running our workshops online via Zoom. The workshops will take place on Wednesday mornings between 2 March and 6 April 2022.

All courses are held in English. They are aimed at doctoral students, postdocs, academic staff and other members of ETH Zurich.
