GLAMhack 2021 – Cultural data goes creative

Are you ready to create digital ways of accessing and experiencing cultural heritage, to discover new things and to learn? Are you up for a lively exchange with other creative minds, visionary digital humanists, passionate cultural workers, meticulous metadata fans and skilled programmers?

An event for inspiration and networking

The Swiss Open Cultural Data Hackathon, or GLAMhack for short, takes place once a year. GLAMhack brings together data providers, software developers, digital humanists, artists, Wikipedians and digital enthusiasts online to experiment with unique open cultural data. The focus is on developing and trying out ideas for creative ways to share, use and link open cultural data.

Interactive cultural data

Drawing new knowledge from digital data takes contextualisation and application. That’s why the participants in the Cultural Data Hackathon also investigate concrete ways to use this data and metadata, for example for research purposes, for web and mobile apps, in the context of Wikipedia, for artistic applications or for other forms of reuse.

A multifaceted programme

On 15 April 2021, the evening before the actual hackathon, a external pagepre-eventcall_made will be held with presentations and panels, as well as a virtual live performance, to kick off the hackathon.

An additional voluntary sports and relaxation programme will also provide a change of pace throughout the hackathon itself.
