Power outages at the Hönggerberg campus

Several power outages will take place at the Hönggerberg campus because of a voltage conversion and a test of the mains power system.

To ensure a continued power supply for large-scale users, the electrical utility of the city of Zurich (ewz) is increasing the voltage of its power distribution from 11kV to 22kV. ETH Zurich's Hönggerberg site is one of the large scale users that will be affected.

Over a period of 45 days in September and October 2018, the voltage conversion will take place in all the buildings at the Hönggerberg site. During this time, each building will undergo a 30-minute power outage.

After the voltage conversion is fully completed, there will be further planned power outages on January 8th 2019 to test if the equipment controlled by the mains power system functions properly and if it can be supplied with emergency power.

Ulrich Weidmann, ETH Vice President Human Resources and Infrastructure, and Christophe Hallier, Project Manager Public Real Estate Management, will inform on April 19th at 4 p.m. at the Siemens Auditorium (HIT E 51).
