ETH Zurich backs Innovation Park Zurich

ETH Zurich is to rent additional space at Innovation Park Zurich as part of a phased plan, starting from this year. The move highlights Zurich’s role as an innovation hub and will strengthen research and collaboration with industry.
Thomas Meierhans wins the ALEA Award

The ALEA – the Art of Leadership Award – has been conferred by ETH Zurich since 2017 in recognition of leaders who facilitate modern and innovative working conditions and who actively encourage and support the reconciliation of work, family, and part-time commitments. This time the award was for the first time jointly presented at an independent event by AVETH (Academic Association of Scientific Staff at ETH Zurich) and VPPL.
Taking a chance in a pandemic

Brothers Gabriel (20) and Rafael Sonderegger (22), both mechanical engineering students at ETH, founded their start-up Sondia in Schaffhausen during the first wave of the pandemic last spring. They set about producing certified face masks based on the slogan: “Masks from Switzerland, for Switzerland” – a surprisingly successful experience that has taught them a great deal.

The Lecturers’ Conference has a new President: Edoardo Mazza, a Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering, will be taking over from Felicitas Pauss (D-PHYS).

The D-MAVT Distinguished Lecture Series brings world leading scientists and engineers to ETH Zurich. Next Monday, Ole Sigmund, Professor at the Technical University of Denmark, will talk about topology optimization.
