Moderate, motivate, facilitate: the art of leading engaging workshops

Do you want to design and lead workshops that keep participants curious, active, and motivated? This course gives you the practical tools and confidence to plan, facilitate, and debrief engaging learning experiences in any context.

Whether you have a coaching background or are just entering the world of facilitation, you will learn how to structure sessions, guide group processes, and create an atmosphere where learning comes alive.

 

This hands-on course allows you to design, lead, and debrief workshops with guidance from experts and peers. You’ll go through the full workshop development process, practice facilitation, and gain valuable insights through observation and feedback. 

 

Learning objectives

  • Design & Structure Workshops: Learn to tailor workshops to diverse participant needs and learning objectives. 
  • Facilitation Mastery: Guide group dynamics, maintain engagement and foster collaboration. 
  • Debriefing Expertise: Conduct meaningful debriefs to evaluate outcomes and support participant growth. 
  • Personal Growth: Receive expert feedback on your facilitation style, refine your approach, and moderate and facilitate while being observed. 
  • Theoretical Integration: Apply frameworks into your practice to elevate the quality and clarity of your facilitation.

    • Friday, 27 February 2026, 09:00–18:00 @ PBLabs HIT E23 (Höngg). Morning topic: moderation, afternoon topic: workshop design.
  • Practising Facilitation and Receive Feedback in one (or more) lectures 
    • Friday, 06 March 2026, 09:00–17:00 Team Coaching Skills @ PBLabs RZ D8 (Zentrum)
    • More and additional dates available in our other trainings (Design Thinking Foundations, Project Management 101, Leading Student Teams, Coaching Students 1:1) 
  • Lead your own Workshop: Organized by participants.

  • Students and faculty are both welcome at this workshop
  • Students can receive 1 ECTS for this course if you additionally sign up via mystudies. Sign up via mystudies for this course. 
  • You can choose to join only the Theory & Experience day (or even half of it) instead of completing the whole course, which includes designing and running your own workshop. Please let us know in the comment section of the sign-up form if you’d like to take this option.
