This article discusses the state of politics in Nepal following the earthquake that struck the country in early 2015. The author argues that once rescue and rebuilding efforts have finished in Nepal, the international community is likely to be confronted with a country that faces the same political problems as before the disaster; one in which elites from across the political and ethnic divides remain locked in a battle over the future shape and trajectory of the country. He also contends that further social unrest cannot be ruled out in Nepal.
