This article compares the differences in the way people perceive and approach taxes in Northern and Southern Europe and the reasons behind these perceptions. The author argues that inefficient governments and the increasingly uneven services they provide are starting to appear in Northern European countries, as illustrated by Great Britain. This, he warns, may steer these countries on the path of their southern neighbors.
