In this newsletter the author examines and contrast the United States (US) and European Union's (EU) respective responses to terrorism. With the 9/11, Madrid and 7/7 bombings both continents have experienced the devastation and loss in life terrorist bombings bring, and both continents champion the values of democracy, human rights and liberty. In spite of this common ground, the two deviate in important ways in their counter terrorist policies.
