Voluntary Contributions
When enrolling for a semester, voluntary contributions must be set to “Yes” or “No”. After enrolment, voluntary contributions can still be corrected from “No” to “Yes” in myStudies (possible until the release of the next semester).
However, voluntary contributions that have already been selected, can no longer be withdrawn or changed from “Yes” to “No” for the current enrollment in myStudies. The Registrar's Office may be contacted for exceptions until the end of the 4th week of the semester.
Foundation Solidarity Fund for Foreign Students
The contribution for the external page Foundation Solidarity Fund for Foreign Students offers students from abroad the possibility to pursue their studies. Thanks to contributions by ETH and University of Zurich students and professors, the Foundation supports foreign students who are in financial difficulty.
Membership of SOSETH
The SOSETH offers its members various services:
- Cinema: The film team shows topical cinema films during the semester (free, members only).
- Digital studio: The digital team provides an opportunity to process digital images with professional equipment, to edit videos and to produce DVDs.
- Photo laboratory: The photo team operates two photographic laboratories (black/white und colour).
Membership of VSETH
This contribution supports the respective specialist association and the umbrella organisation VSETH, the ETH Zurich Student Association. The specialist associations represent the interests of students at the department level. They organise various events (parties, excursions, camps, intermediate diploma courses etc.) and keep students up to date with current affairs through their publications.
VSETH champions the students’ interests in higher education politics (topics such as tuition fees or student exchange), is responsible for events such as the Erstsemestrigenfest (Fresher’s Fair) or the Polyball, and offers various services (music rooms, StuZ [student’s club] etc.).
AVETH
The Association of Scientific Staff of ETH Zurich represents the interests of the non-professorial teaching staff (assistants, doctoral students, senior lecturers, post-doctoral students and the higher scientific cadre) of ETH Zurich. In addition to performing tasks in higher education politics, AVETH offers its members various services and supports university graduates in finding a job. The membership contribution is normally deducted directly from the salary.
