The Alarm Organisation comprises the Emergency Desk and the Uniformed Security Service.

Emergency Desk

The Emergency Desk is the contact point for all incidents connected to safety and security with regard to persons, buildings and equipment. If an alarm is triggered, the relevant internal and external intervention agencies are alerted and steps are taken to identify and resolve the problem. The Emergency Desk constitutes the link between the various intervening agencies and those responsible for the alarms.

Uniformed Security Service

Out of office hours, the Uniformed Security Service are responsible for the enforcement of the house regulations in the buildings of ETH Zurich. They are the first to intervene by an alarm triggered by the technical or security systems in the buildings. They are also the first to intervene if there is an incident, such as an accident, in case of fire , in the event of a break-in, an assault or damage to property.

For the evaluation of energy data (EMMS – Energie- und Medienmesswerte of ETH Zurich) we provide the following database.

We supply the buildings on the ETH Zentrum campus, the cantonal administrative buildings (Walche) and some other, privately-owned properties in the university district with environmentally friendly district heating. ETH Zurich’s district heating system is connected to Zurich’s district heating network and is operated in cooperation with the City of Zurich authorities.

By using the waste heat from ETH buildings and surplus energy from Zurich’s district heating network, ETH only needs to burn gas and oil to cover 15% of its total heating requirement. In this way, we are making a significant contribution to reducing CO2 emissions and improving air quality.

The Facility Services department maintains all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, cooling, sanitation and electrical systems at ETH. We ensure that the entire infrastructure operates safely and economically.

Temperature in the lecture halls

The air conditioning systems in the lecture halls are set to an average temperature. If the temperature is considerably too high or too low, there may be a fault. Don’t hesitate to tell us your concerns so that we can check the system immediately: Real estate services portal

The Facility Services department carries out general cleaning and maintenance work in accordance with the Service Level Agreement. If you have any special cleaning requests or enquiries, please contact us via Info + Service Center or real estate services portal.

Waste disposal

For ecological and economic reasons, waste should be separated as far as possible. Please separate all waste (PET, paper/cardboard, normal waste, batteries, electronic waste etc.), so that it can be processed accordingly. Please use the official recycling collection points in each building.

The Facility Services department is responsible for repairs and minor renovation work.

If you identify a fault, please let us know via the real estate services portal.
