Software projects

The IT Services perform software projects on behalf of ETH organisation units within a framework of a relevant project agreement.

The services offered include the entire project lifecycle of a software program from technical design through to implementation, integration, quality assurance and commissioning.

The IT Services group can provide analysis and specifications of software solutions, software evaluation processes, software architecture and provide cost estimates. Additionally, the IT Services group can insure the implementation of software projects, for both custom developed software application and for the integration of standard software. Furthermore, the IT Service group can offer integration services, project management and development capacity to integrate system which have been set up independently of the organisational unit.

For the successful completion of software projects to support tasks in the areas of teaching and administration requires both knowledge and experience in the IT sector as well as a well-founded understanding of the ETH environment.

Due to the increasing complexity and interdependence of centrally administered tasks in each organisational unit at ETH it is becoming increasingly important to complete and implement software projects in a timely manner. The implementation of software projects can be risky for operating units as the complexity cost and time required for completion is often dramatically underestimated.

The IT Services group can offer comprehensive and professional support. This will reduce the customers risk by setting out realistic planning and implementation process. The service involves the implementation of a joint project between the IT Services group and the organisational unit (the customer) where the IT Services group takes primary charge of the project. The cooperation between the IT Services group and the customer is flexible and can be tailed to suit the customer's academic environment.

The service is available to all organisational units at ETH that intend to develop software to develop software which will support the teaching and administrative processes.

The detailed content and the organisational and financial arrangements for the service and outline with the organisational unit (the customer) in a SLA agreement.

With order is place after both parties sign the relevant SLA agreement.
