Application portfolio management

IT Services securely manage and support the software application portfolios of ETH organisational units. IT Services offer and provide software maintenance (inclusive security), technical operation and IT support for the entire application portfolio.

The management of business processes in regards to teaching and administration is an increasingly complex and specialised task that can normally be managed using dedicated software programmes. Virtually every organisational unit at ETH have a software portfolio which consists of one or more standard or custom developed software programme. The purchase or development of these software programmes normally involves or is conduct by the IT Services group.

The lifetime sustainability of use of the various software applications is ensured by the IT Services group. Additional, the software maintenance (ongoing adaptation to changing technical and safety constraints) and IT support of the software portfolio is also managed by the IT Services group.

The organisational unit retain control over their own software portfolio and they are responsible for the development, operation and the support over their own software portfolio.

The service is available to all organisational units at ETH that use software to support teaching and administration tasks.

The detailed organisational and financial arrangements for the purchase of the service is controlled by each organisational unit in a specific agreement (customer SLA)

The order is placed once the SLA has been signed.
