ETH Meets You at the WORLDWEBFORUM

ETH Zurich is pleased to engage with the WORLDWEBFORUM, hosting two "Vertical" sessions on Wednesday, 25 January 2017.

WORLDWEBFORUM

Sometimes referred to as the WEF of technology, the WORLDWEBFORUM explores innovative trends that will transform the way we live - from energy to fintech and from machine learning to digital collaboration. ETH Zurich researchers on the cutting edge of many of these new trends will host two Vertical sessions on Day 2 of the WORLDWEBFORUM, Wednesday, 25 January 2017

Machine Learning

The goal of machine learning is to enable computers to learn and excel at performing specific tasks. Examples of these tasks range from driving a car, recognizing a face in a picture, to improving a web search. It has also been argued that, through machine learning, we can get closer to achieving the overarching goal of human-level AI. In the future machine learning will play a significant role in many industries and institutions. The greater Zurich area is well positioned to expand its already leading position as an AI and machine learning technology hub. This vertical will look at the technological, medical, economic, socio-economic, and political dimensions of machine learning and AI.

Jürg Brunnschweiler, Director ETH Global moderates an engaging session on Machine Learning with speakers:

  • Chris Luebkeman, Global Director for Foresight + Research + Innovation
  • Benjamin F. Grewe, Professor at the Institute of Neuroinformatics
  • Costas Bekas, Principal Researcher at Foundations of Cognitive Solutions.
