Programme structure 2017

Main content

The main part of the Amgen Scholars Program at ETH Zurich is devoted to doing practical research in one of the hosting labs.

Lab research

Working as part of a research team under the supervision of an assigned faculty mentor, you will have the opportunity to interact with leading scientists and doctoral students.

Lectures and events

During the 9 programme weeks in Switzerland, there will be regular events for all Amgen scholars.

The detailed schedule of events will be developed during spring 2017. Some of the events will address scientific topics of general relevance to Amgen scholars, but the focus will be on topics beyond the lab: cross-cutting skills, such as communication, scientific writing and intercultural skills, career issues, workshops and industry visits.

Social events

The Amgen scholars at ETH Zurich have the opportunity to organize joint social activities during the weekends, with support from the programme.

Cambridge symposium

Amgen Scholars will participate in a Symposium for all European Amgen Scholars, held at the University of Cambridge 2 to 5 September 2017. Thus, scholars travel directly from Zurich to Cambridge.

The symposium includes a poster session where all scholars present their research experiences. Travel costs and accommodation for this event will be covered for all Amgen Scholars.
