Study period and start

In general you may come to ETH Zurich for one to two semesters. It is possible to start in either the Autumn or the Spring Semester.

Tips and Tricks for your Studies

The presentation to the «Tips and Tricks for your Studies» (PDF, 1.8 MB) event which takes place in the Autumn Semester, contains valuable advice on studying at ETH Zurich and preparation for oral exams.

In addition you can find suggestions on preparing for and following up on course work in the Checklist lecturers and excercises (PDF, 176 KB).

Languages of instruction

The languages of instruction at ETH Zurich are German and English.

Information about the language of instruction of each course can be found in the Course catalogue of ETH Zurich.

Language courses

An intensive course in beginner and advanced German is offered during the two weeks prior to the beginning of each semester.

Beginners and advanced learners may also enroll in courses at all levels of proficiency during the semester.
German as a Foreign Language for Exchange Students (PDF, 43 KB)

Exchange and visiting students may attend an intensive course and one language semester course free of charge. Pre-registration is required (please respect the deadlines).
