The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports basic research and programme research with various instruments.
The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) supports basic research in all disciplines, from philosophy and biology to the nanosciences and medicine.
Any researcher working in Switzerland is entitled to participate. SNSF funding is granted on a competitive basis through peer review.
Applications for project funding can be submitted until 1 April and 1 October each year.
Responsible for the evaluation of research applications for basic research are the three divisions of the research council:
- Div. I: Humanities and Social Sciences
- Div. II: Mathematics, Natural and Engineering Sciences
- Div. III: Biology and Medicine
Interdisciplinary research applications are evaluated by the Specialized Committee Interdisciplinary Research.
The complete version of the research application has to be submitted to SNSF via the web platform www.mysnf.ch. The SNSF does only accept electronically submitted research applications.
The ETH Zurich Research Commission is an official body of the Swiss National Science Foundation and is mandated to give an institutional statement on the SNF grant proposals from ETH Zurich researchers.
