The Language Centre of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich offers a wide range of language courses for students, faculty and staff at both universities. It also features various independent learning facilities, such as audio learning, tandem learning, game evenings, language meet-ups and book clubs.

There has been a facility at the University of Zurich in the city centre dedicated to these uses for some time. At the beginning of the semester in February 2017, a second Self-Access Centre (SAC) opened on the Hönggerberg campus on Peter-Debye-Weg, right by the new student housing. The following languages are currently available: German as a foreign language, English, French, Italian and Spanish. The SAC is intended as a meeting place for people with similar interests, bringing a range of new activities to the campus.
