“I'm proud to have the opportunity to work for one of the top 10 universities in the world,” says ETH’s new Director of IT Services. Before his appointment by the ETH Executive Board, Brandao worked at Credit Suisse AG, where he was responsible for several IT departments and global projects. He recently managed the consolidation and transformation of the global testing, support and IT infrastructure organisation.

In this role, Brandao managed various IT application development and offshoring units (with a focus on sourcing and location issues related to IT services), and also headed up the global testing organisation. Before joining Credit Suisse AG, Brandao worked for various international consultancy firms and was responsible for mandates in the fields of information security, project management, IT risk management and IT auditing.

“I'm excited to be the new Director of ETH’s IT Services, where I will be responsible for all aspects of the university’s IT infrastructure and can therefore consolidate my experience from a wide range of different IT areas,” says Brandao, who graduated from the University of Zurich in 1996 with a degree in Information Systems and a PhD in Computer Science in 2001.

Brandao will begin his new role at ETH Zurich as of 1 November 2016. He succeeds former IT Services Director Reto Gutmann, who has taken on a new role as CEO of Swiss IT company Abraxas Informatik as of 1 May 2016.

“I wish Mr Brandao all the best in the further development of our IT services and look forward to working with him in future,” says Ulrich Weidmann, who oversees IT Services in his role as Vice President Human Resources and Infrastructure.
