Smartphone: a glimpse of the future
Snapping your fingers is all it takes to silence the morning smartphone alarm, getting digital assistant George to answer your e-mails before you even get out of bed, commenting on the first Facebook postings of the day while switching on the (N)espresso machine. Ten minutes later, your car Brad opens the door, and the voice control connects you to a client in Hong Kong who you want to talk to on the way to the office. This is just a glimpse of how digital transformation is turning people’s day-to-day lives upside down. The smartphone is not only a voice apparatus, but also a data or information device – a connecting, pervasive and ubiquitous object that is smart enough to bridge the digital divide and blend tradition with innovation.
