In 2010, the Arthur Waser Foundation decided to support the Sustainable Rural Dwelling Unit (SRDU) project in Ethiopia. Implementing partner in Ethiopia was the Ethiopian Institute for Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC) in Addis Ababa. This initial investment in a one-year pilot project led to a longer-term partnership between the Arthur Waser Foundation and the ETH Zurich starting in 2012.
