Organisation of the Institute for Theoretical Studies

The Institute for Theoretical Studies occupies a special position within the structure of ETH Zurich: it is independent of the Department and is under the direct control of the Vice-President for Research.

Director

Prof. Rahul Pandharipande

The operations of the ETH Institute for Theoretical Studies are managed by a director who will receive the assistance of an Scientific Advisory Committee. The second director of the ETH Institute for Theoretical Studies is Rahul Pandharipande, who is a professor of mathematics at ETH Zurich since 2011.

Institute's Coordinator

Livia Kürsteiner

The director is supported by the Institute's coordinator and her team. They make sure that all administrative and organisational tasks are taken care of smoothly. 

Scientific Advisory Committee

The Institute for Theoretical Studies has a Scientific Advisory Committee. It is composed of ETH internal and international researchers.

The committee assists the director in the running of the institute and the selection of senior and junior fellows. Committee members serve for a twice renewable period of two years.

The board of patrons include the sponsors of the institute and former ETH president Ralph Eichler, on whose initiative the institute was founded.

Fellows

Senior fellows are invited by the Vice-President for Research of ETH Zurich on the recommendation of the advisory committee. Junior and Advanced fellows are selected by a nomination procedure.
