Shape your doctorate: managing your projects, research and time.
The development & Leadership team (VPPL) presents a course consisting of three online sessions (ca. 1.5h each) accompanying the self-paced e-Learning Epigeum course "Effective management of your research" (ca. 5h).
First session: 15 May 2024.
In this workshop held by Eva Gottschewski (VPPL ETH Zurich) you will learn how to deal with conflicts in a constructive way and how to de-escalate them at an early stage and without external help.
The workshop will focus on:
- Taking personal responsibility for the resolution of conflicts
- Subjectivity / different points of view
- Finding solutions
- Not being afraid of emotions
- Knowing and expressing your own needs
- Getting to know the needs of the other side (by asking questions and listening).
Please note: this will be an interactive workshop with theoretical inputs and group discussions during which active participation is requested.
Martin Ghisletti (VPPL, ETH Zurich) will discuss the role of effective communication in the interpersonal relationships which are the basis for a successful, productive and enjoyable doctorate. This workshop will include both theoretical input and hands-on practice in form of collaborative exercises.
You will learn:
- how to communicate on eye level
- how cultural differences can lead to misunderstandings in communication
- how to formulate a critical message
In preparation for the workshop, please complete this online e-learning sessions on intercultural communication, which will take about 1 hour. This self-paced e-Learning course is available in German and in English. You will use these concepts and tips during the workshop to work on your concrete personal examples.
