Curriculum structure

The academic year is divided into two semesters of 14 weeks each (beginning in mid-September and mid-Februrary, entry in Bachelor programmes in autumn only).

The ETH degree programmes are structured in a tiered model, leading to Bachelor and Master-degrees. Study achievements in these programmes are rewarded with credits in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Doctorates and various forms of academic continuing education lead to advanced qualifications.

Bachelor programmes

The Bachelor programmes expand the students' knowledge of basic subjects as well as introducing the theoretical and methodological fundamentals of the course subject. >> Bachelor structure

Master programmes

Each Bachelor programme has at least one consecutive Master programme linked to it, to which students can transfer without having to fulfil additional requirements. In addition, several specialised Master programmes are offered. >> Master structure

Student exchange programmes

Agreements exist with many universities both inside and outside of Switzerland. They allow students to spend either a semester or a whole year abroad or to transfer after the Bachelor degree. >> Exchange programmes

Doctoral studies
