The Master degree programmes comprise 90 or 120 credits corresponding to a study period of three or four semesters.
Taking up a Master programme enables students to
consolidate and deepen their Bachelor education in a specific subject area. For the first two or three semesters, the curriculum comprises lectures, semester projects and
laboratory courses. The Master thesis, which concludes the programme, gives the opportunity to write up your
first independent research project. In many degree programmes, the education is
supplemented with an extensive period of practical training outside ETH.
3-4 semesters: lectures, semester projects and laboratory courses, practical training, session examinations, written papers >> Master thesis (3-8 month)
Graduate degree: "Master of Science ETH" or "Master of Arts ETH".
More and more Master programme courses are being taught in English, and it is possible to complete many degree programmes without any knowledge of German.
Master graduates aiming for a research career can continue directly with their doctoral studies, which takes three to four years.
