Earth Sciences Bachelor
Understanding the Earth’s System
Our earth is an open system, consisting of matter and
energy, which alters due to various processes. Earth scientists attempt
to understand this complex system using methods from all areas of
science.
Credits ECTS: 180
Language of instruction: German
Structure:
During the first two years of study students acquire knowledge of the fundamentals of science, law and business and the basics of the specific subject. In the third year students select a major in Geology, Geophysics, or Climate and Water, and write a Bachelor’s thesis in this area. Excursions and field trips are an important supplement to the lectures and practicals throughout the period of study.
- General basic courses: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics
- Basic course-specific subjects:
Geochemistry and Geophysics, Palaeontology, Igneous Activity and Volcanoes, Sedimentology, etc.
- Humanities and social sciences
- Majors: Geology, Geophysics, Climate and Water
