What is Treffpunkt Science City?

«Treffpunkt Science City» is a popular science programme
for all. It opens a window into the world of research and is intended as an
interchange between ETH Zurich and the public.

By means of short lectures, scientific talks, presentations, lab visits,
exhibitions and tours, our visitors experience new knowledge being created and learn
how this will influence our world. In addition to visiting our laboratories,
guests can discuss current crucial issues with our researchers and observe their
think tanks.

«Treffpunkt Science City» includes one spring and one fall series. Each series
lasts five to eight weeks and includes varied events which take place on
Sundays and Wednesday evenings in Science City and ETH center.

Geschichte

Treffpunkt Science City" was created in autumn 2006 as part of ETH Zurich’s Science City project.  Since its beginning "Treffpunkt Science City" has continuously developed and adapted to new needs. Nowadays every "Treffpunkt" series is devoted to a main topic.

Depending on the main theme, lecturers from other universities as well as professionals from business, government and culture join ETH scientists as programme partners.

The programme has been expanded from the traditional Sunday event to include Wednesday evenings as well. Since January 2010, the Rector of ETH Zurich has assumed responsibility for the programme.
