Archives of Contemporary History
The Archives of Contemporary History at Hirschengraben 62, Zurich Central
The Archives of Contemporary History support historical research in Switzerland. They have been part of the Institute of History at ETH Zurich since 1974. They preserve and index sources, mainly private in origin, dating from the First World War to the present day. Today, they provide access to personal papers, the archives of institutions, oral history records from contemporary witnesses and much more in the following main subject areas: foreign and domestic policy, economic and foreign trade policy, policies on refugees and emigration, the Second World War, the Holocaust and anti-Semitism, the Cold War and national security policy.
Opening hours
Reading room: Mon-Fri 9 am–5 pm
Resources must be used in accordance with the User rules and regulations (pdf, German) for the Archives of Contemporary History: printed documentation is freely accessible. To view unprinted material, a written request is sometimes required.
