Entomological Collection
Solitary bee (Dasypoda hirtipes)
With around two million specimens, the Entomological Collection of ETH Zurich is among the largest scientific insect collections in Switzerland. It is the result of more than 150 years of collecting by numerous natural scientists. The geographical focus is on insects from Switzerland and Europe, but there are also numerous butterfly and beetle specimens from the tropics. The holdings also include a large collection of slides depicting insects native to Switzerland as well as important systematic publications and identification keys.
